Star Wars in concert with Filharmonien in Oslo

This weekend we had the pleasure of joining Filharmonien for their Star Wars concert. Our job was to do some small stunts under the concert, and mingle before and after it, and during the break.

We worked with a great conductor, Lucas Rickman, who was really nice and fun. My job was to hunt him for a bounty, so after Imperial march (last number before the break) I grabbed his arm and shoved him off the stage. After the break, we bounty hunters dragged him back on stage, and was payed off by Obi-Wan Kenobi, who obviously digged deep in his pockets to outbid our first employer. ;)

The music was great, the orchestra was great and we had a great time trooping with them again. Hope the next one is around the corner! :D

Well, at least I hope she is! She still need to be approved by Nordic Garrisons GML to be able to come with me to Stockholm next weekend.

The helmet is finally done, and the only thing I need to finish now is my staff. Hopefully, it will be done by next weekend, but I haven't prioritised it because it is not needed for approval, and I'm planning to have a wookiee on leash this weekend. ;)

We have been working on our new workshop, and except from a few shelves it is done! The room is still the same that we have used before, but we have painted and added some nice workbenches. We are ready for armour party next week! :-D

Snowtrooper boots

I've done some work on my snowtrooper boots! This is how they turned out after I added the straps. I might redo them though, because I'm not entirely happy about the look. I don't think I'll use the inner sock, the boots look way too thick compared to the ones in the movie.

I have been working at my snowtrooper codpiece today, and I think it turned out pretty nice! It's scary to do things the screen accurate way, because on the snowtrooper that means a lot of holes, rivets, seams and other details that you never really notice in the movies. But I hope it is appreciated anyway. :)

Boushh helmet ready for primer!

My Boushh helmet is finally ready for primer and paint!

Some parts of the helmet is going to be covered by leather, so I'll have to mask that before I paint. I have sanded the whole helmet so the paint will stick better.

I'll start off with grey primer and then a coat of brown. I think I will drybrush and airbrush the details, because they are too small to make with masking fluid.

This helmet kit has required tons of work, but finally I'm happy with it. Everywhere you see black (apart from fingerprints) I have modified the shape. I have used a lot of milliput! I have also used a whole package of white milliput, but that doesn't show as well as the black one. ;)

I got my snowtrooper parts a few months ago, and I forgot to blog about it!

First off, my new mukluks, a size smaller than my old ones. Traded with Ole-Wilhelm, and these fit me even better then my old ones. Just need to add the straps!

My pants, sewn from soft cotton twill. So nice to wear!

Aurra Sing's holster

I got some of the parts for Aurra's holster in the mail today! The buckles fit the belt really nice! The leather belts are all from H&M, though they are sadly not the same colour. I will buy some leather dye to get them the same colour, and I also need to match them to the leather I'll use for the main holster pieces.

Boushh helmet and armour progress

I have done some progress on Boushh, and hope to have the costume ready soon!

I have done most of the helmet building now, only missing the greebles and paint. The helmet was hard to build, with lots of parts not fitting at all. A lot of bondo was needed to make things look good! Still lots to do to make it look perfect!

The armour is now almost done, and has got a coat of primer. The tanks are almost done too, and I'll start work on the attachment piece soon.

Boba Fett girth belt dyeing

I have been struggelig with my Boba Fett girth belt for a long time now, but it seems like my struggle is finally over! I've been trying different ways of dyeing, but nothing has been successful. First I tried wool dye, but it turned out light red and totally transparent. Then I tried wood stain, and it turned out too dark and still transparent, and way too sticky. It also rubbed off on clothes.

Now I tried acrylic wall paint, and it looks good! I just hope it dries ok and will not rubb off in clothes.

I have some work to do on the buckles though, they will need a date with the acetone bottle. ;)

Aurra's braids

I'm currently working on Aurra's braids! I have made those seen at the pics of the costume, but might add a few more if it looks better with the rest of the hair. I have a few left of those metal beads, and tons of the other. The braids are supposed to be dark brown unlike the rest of the hair that is copper red.

They are bought from a lovely shop called Lille Vinkel Sko, and I think they look great for a Bounty Hunter. I've had a hard time finding boots without too much details or too much feminine touch, but I believe these will do! :D

Just for fun, I tried my hubby's snowtrooper boots. They are way too big for him, and on me they look hilarious! They look like big, dirty clown shoes, haha.
Mine is also a little too big, but they do look ok. I'm looking for a smaller size just for comfyness, though. :)

Decided to go TS (Snowtrooper) a few weeks ago, and I got the mukluks (boots) in the mail yesterday! They are used and already weathered, so I don't have to do much except from strapping on them. I have the cotton webbing for the straps, so I'll start working on them soon!

I have started working on a bikerscout costume, hoping to be done and approved for Celebration 5 in August. Crazy timing, I know...

I have ordered armour, helmet and boots from MonCal, and i'm making the softparts myself. The flightsuit is done, the flak vest is cut and the fabric for cummerbund, pouches and balaclava is washed, ready for cutting. Here's a few pics of what I have so far. :)

Progress on the Boushh shoulder armour

I have finally glued my shoulder armour! I have been staring at those pieces for months now, because they just don't fit. But with a little dremeling here and a little dremeling there, everything is going so well!

First, I used magnets to fit the pieces together to see how they would look in different positions. I found the best place to glue them, and marked it with a pencil. Then I dremeled away the return edges on the back part, so that the parts would fit better together. Return edge over return edge is asking for trouble!

I sanded the pieces down and glued them with ABS weld. Earth magnets are good to use here, and a clamp on each side as well.

How to fit a stormtrooper costume into a suitcase

I have been asked to take some pictures to show how I fit my stormtrooper costume into my suitcase, a Samsonite 125 litre. Here we go! :)

First, you put the blaster in the holster, and put them in the suitcase. Then you cover the blaster and the bottom of the suitcase with a blanket, if you want to save the armour from scratches.

Next, you put the helmet in the bottom, facing up.

Then you put the codpiece (cod pointing at the helmet), butt/kidney (butt pointing at helmet), chest (shoulders pointing at helmet) and back plate (shoulders facing the bottom of the suitcase)

Next, you put the lower arms inside the shins, and then you put the shins inside the thighs. Place the thighs on top of the torso pieces with the knees pointing at the bottom of the suitcase.

Put the biceps in the shoulder bells, and place the thermal detonator inside. Place these beside the helmet.

Tuck the belts, the undersuit, neckseal etc. in where it fits, for example beside the thighs.

Put the boots in shoe bags, and place them beside the helmet with the soles against the suitcase wall.

Last, you just close the lid careful, and you should be done! :)

I have worked a little on my helmet today, and for the first time I could try the pieces together and put my head inside! Wow, that's a lot of space! I think I need a wide screen TV and a popcorn maker in there. :D

I still have lots to do with fitting the pieces, and then a lot of bondo work to remove all the seams. This helmet isn't easy to build, and at this point I would rather assemble another AP kit. ;)

But, the costume is close to finished now, and I will be ready in time for the event at Finse.

I have assembled the harness belt with the US Divers belt buckle, and the thrusters are painted. They need weathering, but I thought I'd post them anyway. ;)

Boba progress

I have done some more progress on my Boba Fett costume. It's still a lot to do, but I have at least learned the tecniques now. All there is to do now is to paint as often as I can and hope there is enough time. :)

First coat of grey on top of the red battle damage on the ear. I might try a coat of primer actually, just because it's thicker.

First coat of yellow on the jetpack. Looks a bit light yet, but will be darker when more coats are applied. The paint is a bit runny, so the next coat will be misted on turns.

One of the chest pieces, painted green with yellow and silver battle damage under the masking fluid. Can't wait to peel it off!

My EE-3, first coat of dark grey applied. Need to figure out what the next coat should be. The blaster is grey in the movie, but it looks a bit weird.

One of the shin tools almost done, just need a bit of weathering and hairspray.

Boots with spikes glued on, needs a bit of weathering and some white silicone behind the spikes.

Easy removeable sound system, all in one helmet!

Me and TK-7060 have done a spring cleaning in our helmets! All of the sound system in my helmet was tucked in with gaffer tape, and it was a pain combined with long hair, loose batteries, wires and all the other mess.

To make the set up with ROM/fX and troopercom a little more snug, I made tubes of lycra with velcro on the back and a zipper in the front. Inside the tube, I just tucked all the boards, wires, batteries and chaos. Then I put a line of velcro inside the tubes in my helmet.

Two tubes with ROM/FX, troopercom, batteries and wires. One open, one closed.

Just connect the mini-jacks to the speakers, microphone and magnet switch in the helmet.

Tada! Tuck the tube inside the helmet, and you're good to go!

The thermal detonator for my Boushh costume is finally done! I used rub'n'buff to get it shiny, and then I added Tamiya sand coloured weathering. The weathering doesn't show much on the pics, though. I really like the design of this one, as it lights up and blinks when I pull the safety button.

I finally got my soft parts and wookiee scalps (aka braids)! The braids are superb, and have got all the details right. The flightsuit is perfect, though a little tight over the hips. I'll try to move the seams a bit, but I only have half a centimetre to work with on each side. The flakvest, neckseal and spats fit perfectly, and the pouches look good too! :)

I hope that making the suit more loose over the hips and tighten up my chest with some sports underwear will make me look a bit more like a man too. ;)

Boba boot spikes modded to my size

I bought some boot spikes from Russrep and they are beautiful, but sadly they were
a bit too big for my size 7.5 boots. I straightened one side, removed the spike, shortened the hoop, drilled a new hole and bent the hoop again in a different place.

They look good now, and they fit my boots! The only thing I need to do now, is to fix the spike to the hoop again. When I removed it, I had to dremel off the screw it was attached with, because it was impossible to unscrew it. I think I may just drill out the whole thing and attach it with another screw. Any ideas?

My Boushh parts from Clothears have arrived! They are beautiful!

I got boot spats with boot discs, pants, outer tunic, inner shirt, cummerbund with spikes, cape and belt. The belt needs a hole and the cape needs to be attached to the bandolier before I can wear them, but that's soon to be fixed!

Now I just need to build the helmet, find the staff parts and assemble my bandolier. It's starting to look like something!

Boba Fettt pieces so far

I have got a lot of costume parts now, and I thought it would be nice to gather them all up for a picture. I've also got a few parts I haven't blogged yet, so it's time they get their picture taken too. :)

All my parts so far, I think I have everything except soft parts and helmet decals. The soft parts are ordered from LadySewforus, and will arrive in a few weeks time. I'm still searching for the helmet decals.

US Divers belt buckle, just need the seat belt material to finish it. Anyone have some black nylon seat belt material to spare? ;)

I have tried to get a better colour on my girth belt by using wood stain, but I'm not sure how it will turn out. It's still very sticky, but I hope it will dry up soon!

I have done a little armour painting, and forgot to show pictures of the armour pieces last time I blogged. So here they are, silver painted. :)

I'm making a Boushh costume!

I have ordered everything I need except the staff, which I apparently should be able to get parts for in every plumber shop. I have started working on my helmet and armour, and the tanks are almost finished. The soft parts are ordered from Clothears, and the bandolier is on the way. I have been researching this costume since last november, when a garrison mate said that it would be cool with a Boushh in the garrison. In the meantime we have got one, so I'll be the second one as far as I know. :)

I have ordered the soft parts for my mystery project! It turned out to be quite hard and very expensive to get the right material to sew it myself, so I just ordered everything. I found that I have very little time for sewing while working full time, so it may be the best solution if I am ever to finish the costume. :)

I'll work hard on my hard parts while waiting, and I hope to be done with everything when the package arrives. :D

Airbrushing Boba Fett

I have started painting my Boba Fett armour, using an Evolution airbrush and Vallejo airbrush paints. I started with silver, and will layer the other colours on top of that using masking fluid to mask the battle damage.

The airbrush is working smoothly, and I'm very happy about the results so far. I'm glad I chose an airbrush with an open cup for the paint, because it is so easy to refill. :)

Portrait of Darth Vader, SL-7060

Inspired by Andreas in the Nordic Garrison, I wanted to paint a picture of Darth Vader. Then what's better than actually use my fiancé SL-7060 as a model? :D

We did a photo shoot in the garden (wonder what the neighbours thought, hehe) and ended up with some pretty cool pictures that we manipulated in Gimp. Then I printed the whole image to a overhead sheet and projeted the image to the canvas. When I had the image where I wanted it, I drew thin lines with a pencil and marked what areas should be white and black. I made sure all the lines were just a tad into the black area, so it would be concealed by the black paint. Then I painted with acrylic paint.

I'm pretty happy with it!

My birthday was friday, and I got a sidewinder kit from my boyfriend, SL/TK-7060! It is a resin kit of the Webley & Scott No.1 Mark 1 Flare Gun that Boba Fett uses. Now I have everything I need for Boba Fett! Well, at least everything is ordered and in production, I am still waiting for a huge box with armour parts from Bobamaker.

Girth belt and dye

Slave1pilot from The Dented Helmet was kind enough to send me a girth belt from USA! They are hard to find here in Norway, especially in 100% mohair. The people on that forum are so helpful and nice. :)

The girth is 100% mohair (goat wool) and 34" long, just the right size for me. I'm so glad my hunt for this belt is over, because it is kind of embarassing to go shopping for a girth for yourself (a girth is the thing that keeps the saddle on the horse). In SW terms this is called a honorary sash, which sounds so much better. ;)

I've bought a box of dye from Spinnvilt, I hope the colour is good. We'll see in a few days when I get the time to dye it. :)

I got my new shoes the other day, and they fit me! I'm so glad I returned the first pair I got, because these not only fit me better, they are better made as well! No holes is the fabric, no glue spots, just pure pretty boots. They are a bit soft in the heel, so you kind of feel like falling backwards, so I'll add a thick inner sole to them. Maybe it will get me some more centimeters up from the ground too. ;)

When I was in Göteborg, I got my boot spikes from a good friend of mine who bought them for me to save me some shipping. Thanks, Njål! They are really nice! They are made of aluminium, so I can bump into stuff without breaking them. I don't want to think about what could happend if they were made of resin or something like that...

The Bounty Hunter's Guild patch

Being in the 501st includes lots of temptations when it comes to shopping, and one of those are the patches. There are patches for almost everything! Garrison patches, department patches, event patches, cause patches and lots of more.

My latest patch is a department patch from the Bounty Hunter's Guild. That is where my Boba Fett will belong when he is done! (Yes, I call him "he", not "it". I think I'm in love. *blush*)

New boots!

I have got new boots! I gave up on the dyed ones, the dye (or rather paint) just flaked off. I guess I could have tried to strip all the paint off and dye them again with better dye, but they were also kind of low so my shins popped inside.

I have bought myself a pair of Caboots now. They are huge, but they'll do the job better than the last ones anyway. :)

Kidney and butt plate mod

When I modded my armour for Elite status, I had to cut the kidney and butt plate in two separate pieces. For a girly trooper that can be quite a fun result because, quote from one of my favourite movies Love Actually, "there's a bit of an ass there", hehe. The result was that my butt plate ended several centimeters outside my kidney plate, and that was not a pretty sight. So now I've modded it again, and added abs strips on the inside to keep the pieces together. It looks promising.

ROM/FX installed

My ROM/FX is installed and works like a charm. Only thing I need now is to velcro it inside my helmet. I use velcro so that I can easily take it out for changing batteries and maybe even put it in another helmet later on. :)

When you get the Elite status with the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (FISD) you also get some really cool decals. I've used mine on my TK suitcase, so now I will recognize it for sure! I think it looks awesome, and it's so nice to get stuff like this!

Going to The Scandinavian Sci-Fi, Game and Film Convention in Göteborg and Malmö

There are conventions in Göteborg and Malmö this spring, and I will attend both of them! I will be lots of fun, and I'll get to meet some of my favourite actors, like Mads Mikkelsen, David Barclay (puppeteer of Yoda and Jabba in Star Wars) and Anthony Daniels (C3PO). I can't wait! :D

My Boba pieces so far!

I have got a few pieces for my Boba Fett costume now, and I'm waiting for more to arrive in the mail. So far I have got boots, ammo belt, cape, wookiee braids and knee armour. All my parts need weathering (and some needs painting too).

My knee armour is all hyperfirm (really light rubber material) from slave1pilot. They are really nice! I can’t wait to get them painted, allthough I’m not quite sure what paint to use. They are very flexible, and paint is usually not. I don’t want them to crack, so I need some flexible paint. The good thing is that I should be able to kneel without pain!

Wookiee braids, made from doll hair. Budget variant, but they will do until I get hold of some real hair. I need some leather beads on these because I'm going for the ROTJ SE style Boba.

My cape, cut out from an american army tent. Needs heavy weathering.

My boots are from CaBoots, but unfortunately I have to return these for a bigger size. They say size 7, but they can't be. Sad, but true.

My belt is from 99centTaco, and he’s done an incredible job on it! It’s beautiful, and it’s almost a shame I have to weather it.

I got my elite status the day before christmas! It's so nice to finally be there, all the required stuff are done. Now I can enjoy just doing the mods I like for my armour to be better and more comfy. :)

Starting to make Boba Fett

My TK is now approved by the 501st, and I have started on a new project, Boba Fett. There is still much modding to be done at my TK, but it's kind of refreshing to start on something new as well!

I'm going to make a Return of the Jedi version of Boba Fett, as seen here:

Though, my favourite Boba is actually the pre production version 2, but that is unfortunately never seen in the movies. It's been said that this is the version that was supposed to be used in Empire Strikes Back, and I personally think it looks better than the one they used. It's awesome with it's multicoloured armour parts, blue flightsuit and green cape. I'd love to do this Boba sometime, but for now I will concentrate on those costumes actually seen in the movies. But take a look at this beauty!

Blaster resin kit glued on to my Hasbro

My resin kit from Doopydoos is now glued to my Hasbro blaster! I had to do some dremeling to get the magazine to fit, I guess I have an old resin kit because the other kit we have in the house is quite different. Well, eventually it fitted! I added the D-ring and t-tracks for TK elite-standard, so my blaster should be ready for approval as soon as I get it painted.

My blaster holster is ready for trooping! Yay! It's made out of black leather that I've sewed by hand. I've used rivets and snaps for the details. It's made to fit my Hasbro blaster, and is attached to the belt ANH-style with two snaps hidden behind screen accurate rivets.

I've started to sew the elastic bands to my shoes, and it's looking good! Phew! The process takes time, I hope I can get this done in time for the next event. The problem is that my fingers are getting tired after a few minutes of sewing leather! Well, time will show. At least mine smell better than the caboots! :D

I'll add one more coat of paint after the seam is done, just to cover the black that is showing through the seam.

I finally found some white shoe paint today! After rubbing off wax and shoe polish, I added two coats of paint. They will need more coats, so the journey to white boots is to be continued...

Yay! One shin is actually glued! I used ABS weld to connect the two parts before I glued the strip on with E6000, the best glue I've ever used. :)

AP shins are funny. They seem so nice and easy, and when you try to put them together you're soon dragged down to earth again. I feel like the whole "try to fit AP shins"-thing is like a whole afternoon with twist and shout. Mostly shouting for a long time before you finally see that you have to twist. I really hope the glue is strong enough. ;)

My left shin, a different chapter in the book... It wont fit and you have to twist it to make it work if you're not going to cut away some of the upper edge, which doesn't look good.

Blaster holster on the way!

I'm making a holster for my hasbro blaster, and thought I'd share some pics of it. It still needs a couple more buttons, a seam on the right side and some pop rivets. They are added on the pic, but I have to get some rings to add on the back side before I can pop them on. :)

Black helmet interior

I have given my helmet a black interior by adding one coat of primer, one coat of black and one coat of matt satin transparent lacquer. I have to paint the inside of the frown and eyes by hand.

Yay! Finally! I've been afraid of doing this for some time now, and now it's done! I used a dremel and some different needle files for this, and some sanding for a smooth finish. I painted it with Humbrol glossy grey #5. :)

I have started to glue strips to my armour parts, and the first one is done. This will take some time, as I don't have enough clamps and magnets to do them all at the same time. But there's enough to do, I still have to model the return edges on most of my parts as well. :)

I have ruined my shoes today! I've ripped off the elastic band to get it replaced by a white one. I will paint my shoes before I do that, but the paint isn't here yet. I hope it'll come soon!

Helmet coming together!

I've started working on my helmet! The decals on the back piece of the helmet are done, and the eyes are cut and polished. I have yet to find courage to cut the frown, that is one scary area to play in!

Now I have to start thinking of how to fasten my lenses! There's really no place to put the glue, as the edge on the inside of the eyes is very thin. Advice is welcome! :)

I have cut out and polished the belt buttons, they are now ready to glue onto the belt. I have also done some modifications to the ab button plate, so that I can use my duckies buttons there as well. I have glued some of the buttons onto the ab plate, and I think it looks quite good. :)

I am painting my buttons and my detonator, and they're starting to look good. I'm using Humbrol glossy #5 grey and #15 midnight blue. I found the buttons at a local yarnstore, they're so cute with ducks on them. Pity they have to be painted! ;)
